The city turns to the screen this March to witness the incredible works created by both New York City natives and the international community beyond. With events dedicated to celebrating children’s films, drone cinematography, films made by people with disabilities and more, don’t miss out on this month’s roster of festivals!

New York International Children’s Film Festival

Founded in 1997, The New York International Children’s Film Festival supports the creation and dissemination of thoughtful, provocative and intelligent film for children and teens. Since inception, the festival has grown from one weekend of films into the largest film festival for children and teens in North America, and is screened over the course of four weeks at venues across New York City. This year’s schedule has a host of features, shorts and special events on deck – be sure not to miss out on the fun!

NYC Drone Film Festival

March 3rd through 4th

Now in its 4th year, the New York City Drone Film Festival is the first event in the world exclusively dedicated to celebrating the exciting artistic potential of drone cinematography. The festival offers the opportunity for filmmakers from around the world to exhibit their work on an international platform before industry professionals and the drone community.

ReelAbilities Film Festival

March 8th through 14th

ReelAbilities Film Festival is the largest of its kind in the United States dedicated to promoting awareness of and appreciation for the lives, stories and artistic expressions of people with disabilities. Founded in New York in 2007, the festival has since presented award-winning films by and about people with disabilities throughout multiple cities in the United States.

Queens World Film Festival

March 15th through 25th

Now in its 8th year, The Queens World Film Festival returns to the Museum of the Moving Image and Kaufman Astoria Studios this March for another schedule of exciting, topical and bold works. With long features and shorts on deck including narratives, documentaries, LGBTQ and animated work, the festival is dedicated to creating worthwhile experiences for participating filmmakers and guests with signature elements.

PhotoDiversity Film Festival

March 19th through 23rd

The PhotoDiversity Film Festival enables filmmakers from diverse backgrounds to display meaningful perspectives on environmental issues. Supporting The Zoological Lighting Institute, the international NGO dedicated to science in support of animal welfare and wildlife conservation, the festival features science, wildlife and arts and culture features, and special awards for winners in seven categories.
