In preparation for the season of gratitude that is fast approaching, October is a good time to remember what is truly important in life: giving back. With this in mind, we have compiled a list of galas, dinners and walks that work to help fund some of the globe’s most worthy charity efforts.
October 2nd, 6:30pm
The Plaza, Fifth Avenue at Central Park South
This much-anticipated event will honor four individuals who work to make our city a better place for both women and families. Reigning as the only public foundation in the United States dedicated solely to helping low-income women and girls in NYC, The New York Women’s Foundation will put on an evening to remember in The Plaza’s Grand Ballroom.
October 12th, 6:30 – 9:30 pm
Cipriani’s, 25 Broadway
This biennial fundraising dinner honors leaders who have been ambitious and tireless in their dedication to protect the planet and improve people’s lives. The event’s funds will help the World Resources Institute continue to run with strength on five continents.
October 15th, 7:30am
Central Park, East 72nd Street and 5th Avenue
Each October, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer comes to a town by you in order to unite communities toward the common goal of saving lives from breast cancer. Funds raised go to the American Cancer Society’s research and early detection efforts. Join breast cancer survivors on this walk to help save more lives!
October 25th, 6:00 – 9:00pm
Blend on the Water, 4540 Center Boulevard, LIC
Support Queens Community House in its mission to provide families with the tools necessary to enrich their lives and build healthy and inclusive communities. The organization annually offers 20,000 residents of the borough with support no matter age or background.
October 27th, 8:00 – 11:30pm
The Grand Ballroom, 583 Park Avenue
The 6th Annual Maya’s Hope Gala will be a night to remember! The black tie event will benefit the organization’s mission to improve the quality of lives of orphaned, impoverished and special-needs children on a global scale, providing funding for caregivers and medical care for those who desperately need it.
